As Ferrari pulled the sheet off its latest car at the Geneva Motor Show, it was also unveiling the most powerful and the fastest Ferrari in the company’s history.

The 812 Superfast is a front engined, rear-wheel drive, two-seater that features a large rear hatch with enough space for a weekend's luggage.

It’s aimed to deliver an uncompromising sports car experience whether on the road or on the track, yet be comfortable enough to drive home in after a day thrashing around Monza.

Under the long and curvaceous bonnet is a new 6.5-litre V12 engine that develops 789bhp, with power peaking at 8,500rpm.

It'll develop 530lb ft of torque at 7,000rpm, although 80% of that is accessible from just 3,500rpm.

It’ll get from standstill to 62mph in an eye blinking time of 2.9 seconds and onto a top speed of around 211mph.

The new V12 will return 19mpg on a combined cycle and emits 340g/km of CO2.

The engine’s linked to a seven-speed manual sequential dual-clutch gearbox with auto mode.

Inside, there’s a new steering wheel, sportier seats, a redesigned instrument cluster and the 812 Superfast gets Ferrari’s latest infotainment systems and air-conditioning unit.
