2017 Aston Martin Vanquish S announced
More power, improved handling and revised looks give Aston’s 200mph super-GT a new lease of life. Arrives in December
Aston Martin has taken the wraps of its second-generation Vanquish S, which gets revised styling, more power and is dynamically enhanced.
From the outside, you’ll be able to tell the new model apart, once you’ve stopped drooling that is, by the revised front and rear bumpers. The front splitter and rear diffuser now feature exposed carbon fibre and are more than just aesthetically pleasing as they combine to reduce front end lift, with the offset of some additional drag. At the back, quad tailpipes complete a more athletic look.
Nestling behind the famous Aston grille is an uprated version of the naturally-aspirated 6.0-litre V12 petrol engine. Power is up to 592bhp (600PS), an increase of 27bhp (27PS), while torque now tops out at 465lb ft (630 Nm) at 5500rpm. That means 0-62mph is dispatched in a mind-bending 3.5 seconds and the Vanquish S will keep going until 201mph.
Throttle response has been improved due to a revised air intake system, allowing more air into the engine at higher revs. It’s fitted with an improved eight-speed Touchtone automatic gearbox, which is quicker to shift gears and has been improved for lower speed refinement.
Efforts have been made to further enhance the Vanquish S’s handling with retuned suspension, damping, spring rates and anti-roll bar bushes, all of which won’t affect the car’s ride quality.
Options to individualise your Vanquish S have been boosted, too. Externally you can get carbon fibre bonnet louvres, new forged 5-spoke diamond turned wheels and a choice of painted graphics packs.
Inside, there’s ‘Filograph’ quilted leather, new materials and finishes, including a Satin Chopped Carbon Fibre fascia panel. Bridge of Weir Caithness leather offers an even higher level of luxury.

On sale now with customer deliveries starting in December, the new Vanquish S will cost £199,950 in the UK, €262,950 in Germany and $294,950 in the US.
