2017 BMW M4 DTM Championship Edition
If the standard M4 is too vanilla for you, then this high-powered special edition might just be what you’re looking for
BMW has celebrated winning this year’s DTM series with driver Marco Wittmann by launching this special M4 DTM Championship Edition.
Utilising motorsport technology with unique styling, the M4 DTM gets 493bhp (500PS) and 443lb ft of torque (600NM) meaning it’ll rocket from stationary to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds before topping out at a monstrous 190mph.
Every car will get an Alpine white paint finish and carbon fibre treatment to the front splitter complete with side aero flicks, wing mirror caps, side skirt attachments, rear diffuser and large boot mounted spoiler.
Inside, there are M Carbon bucket seats in the front which are upholstered in Alcantara/Leather Merino. Alcantara also features throughout the interior and on the steering wheel. In the back, the rear seats have been removed and replaced by a rollover bar.
The special edition gets individually adjustable 3-way coilover suspension, enabling the setup of the rebound and damping to be set to the driver’s liking.
Lightweight components made from carbon fibre reinforced plastic include the bonnet, roof, rear diffuser and instrument panel support to improve the M4 dynamically. Quad tailpipes made of lightweight titanium complete the weight saving.
Fitted with 19in orbit grey alloy wheels on the front and 20in versions on the rear, they are wrapped in special Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 high-performance tyres. Carbon-ceramic brakes are charged with bringing the M4 DTM to a stop.
The BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition comes fitted with professional sat nav, air conditioning, LED headlights and front and rear parking sensors.
It’s on sale now but prices and UK specification is yet to be confirmed.
