2017 Skoda Octavia arrives in time for Christmas
Skoda’s family hatchback and estate has undergone a midlife facelift featuring quad headlights, more tech and equipment
Skoda’s third-generation Octavia family and estate car has been given a mid-life facelift. The front end styling is significantly revised with the large bland headlights replaced for sharply designed quad units, similar to the last generation Mercedes E-Class.
The front and rear bumpers are new while the rear taillight graphics are redesigned. There are more subtle changes inside, which give the Octavia a more upmarket feel. The sat nav area is larger and has a revised design, with up to a 9.2in screen.
Arriving at the end of 2017, the updated Octavia will get four engines, two petrol and two diesel. The petrol variants consist of a 1.0 TSI with 113bhp and a 1.4 TSi with 148bhp. On the diesel front, there's a 1.6-litre TDi 113bhp and 2.0 TDi 147bhp.
Continuing will be the six and seven-speed DSG automatic gearboxes as well as manual, while an all-wheel drive system will be offered in the 1.8-litre TSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel.
The optional Dynamic Chassis Control offers three selectable driving modes; comfort, normal and sport.
New safety features include; predictive pedestrian protection; blind spot detection; rear traffic alert; and trailer assist.
It comes with a range of alloy wheels from 16 to 18in in various designs.
The Octavia is the latest car built on the VW Group MQB platform to get a mid-life facelift around. In the summer, the Audi A3 was updated, a new Leon has been unveiled, while VW will launch a new Golf in early 2017.
The revised Skoda Octavia saloon and estate version will be available in the first markets from the end of the year. Deliveries will begin in early 2017.
