2016 Paris Motor Show Review

With the doors now closed on the Paris Motor Show until 2018, we take look back at the stars of the 2016 show

The Mondial de l’Automobile is held every two years and is one the most prestigious and best attended motor shows on the automotive calendar with manufacturers and visitors attending in their droves.


More than 1 million people visited this year's show with one in three experiencing the show for the first time.



Here are the stars of the show:


Audi





It’s the second generation of Audi’s A5 four-door coupe. There are five engines to pick from plus the range-topping 349bhp S5. Sales set to start in early 2017.






Second-generation of Q5 SUV got its world premiere.








A3 RS Saloon


High-Performance range topper for the A3 saloon with 395bhp.







BMW



A nod to a coupe version of the X1 SUV.





Citroen





The five-door luxury hatchback showcases a new approach to the large luxury hatchback segment with distinctive styling and hybrid powertrains.






It’s the third-generation of Citroen’s C3 supermini and looks to take the fight to the Ford Fiesta with its new looks and tech.





Dacia





The Sandero - a five-door supermini; Sandero Stepway – a five-door SUV-crossover version of the Sandero; and the Logan MCV – a five door estate all get unveiled following a midlife facelift.




Ferrari


GT4C Lusso T


Latest Ferrari gets world premiere fitted with a 3.9-litre V8 turbocharged engine. 0-62mhp takes just 3.5 seconds.






LaFerrari Aperta


Open-top version of the exclusive Ferrari hypercar, launched to mark the firms 70th anniversary.







GLM



G4


High-end electric supercar from Japan featuring double gull-wing doors.





Honda





The tenth-generation of the Civic will hope to win back buyers from the Volkswagen Golf, Vauxhall Astra and the now ageing Ford Focus when it goes on sale in early 2017.





Near production ready hot hatch version of the family hatchback.








Hyundai





The i30 has been designed in Europe and is set to have a comfortable ride complemented by good handling. It too will take on family hatchback royalty in January 2017.




Kia




Fourth-generation of the Rio five-door hatchback and will take on the Ford Fiesta and Skoda Fabia in the small car class in early spring 2017.




Land Rover





The all-new fifth-generation Discovery catches up with Land Rover’s recent design themes and takes design cues from the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Sport.




Lexus




Concept SUV is set to provide hints of what next-generation Lexus vehicles will look like.







The petrol and petrol-hybrid powered car gets a mid-life refresh to take on rivals such as the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, Jaguar XE and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.





Flagship LC coupe gets its first European outing.





The NX Sport Edition SUV will make its debut.








Mercedes-Benz




Range-topping version of the GLC Coupe gets 360bhp and will be a key rival to the Porsche Macan when it arrives in December.






Is a new, lifestyle-oriented addition to the E-Class range and could be about to do battle with the Audi A6 Allroad and Volvo V90 Cross County.






Two open-top versions of Mercedes-AMG range-topping sports car. Powered by a 4.0-litre biturbo with either 469bhp or 549bhp.






Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6


Show car will demonstrate how electric mobility and luxury can be combined.






Generation EQ


The world premiere of an all-electric car, showing a vision of a totally new generation of vehicle.

Clubman John Cooper Works


Range-topping version of six-door family hatchback.







Mitsubishi




The world premiere of high-end next generation SUV concept with off-roading abilities and powered by a triple motor PHEV with high capacity batteries.

Nissan

All important new supermini suggests it has what it takes to battle for class honours.

Ateca Xperience


More rugged version of latest SUV with focus on off-roading.

Skoda





This all-new large-SUV gets its first public outing. It’ll feature five engines, seven-seats and the largest boot in its class when sales start in 2017.





Smart


Fortwo Coupe and Cabrio Electric


World premiere of the electric drive versions.




Forfour Electric


A first for the Forfour and also a world premiere of the electric drive version.






Ssangyong




This concept is the likely replacement for the ageing Rexton and aims to keep the brand moving forward following the success of the Tivoli and Tivoli XL.




Suzuki





Set to go on sale in January 2016, this is the first outing of the diminutive crossover SUV and gets hybrid technology seen in the latest Baleno.






The mid-sized SUV gets a refreshed look and more refined interior. Sales start in mid-October and there are 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre engines to choose from.




Toyota





Will be shown in final production form ahead of hitting our roads in January 2017 with a choice of 1.2-litre or 1.8-litre hybrid engines.






Toyota concept vehicle which showcases future hydrogen fuel technology and gets its European debut.






Plug-In Hybrid version of its popular Prius for the first time in Europe and has an estimated fuel consumption of 202mpg and CO2 emissions of just 32g/km.
