The all-new replacement for the Peugeot 3008 compact-SUV will go on sale at the end of the year having had it's world premiere at the Paris Motor Show.

The new 3008 is lighter than before (on average 100kg) yet is slightly larger and offers more interior room with a stylish and modern interior.

Weight has been saved through the use of materials, including a thermoplastic boot floor and tailgate as well as aluminium wings, front suspension and rear seat frames.

Overall, it measures in at 4450mm long, 1840mm wide and 1620mm tall, an increase of 80mm in length and reduction of 17mm in height over the outgoing model. A longer wheelbase means that rear passengers get 24mm more legroom while there’s also 4mm more elbow room and 36mm headroom. Those in the front benefit from 17mm extra width.

At the rear, the boot has increased by 90 litres to 520 litres, and with the back seats lowered, this increases to 1580 litres.

There are three petrol and four diesel engines to choose from. There are two versions of a 1.2-litre Puretech developing 128bhp and emitting 115g/km of C02. There’s optimised low-fuel consumption version, while each comes with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox. The most powerful petrol is a 1.6-litre 163bhp and is connected to a six-speed automatic.

There are four diesel engines. A 1.6-litre comes with either 99bhp or 118bhp, while a 2.0-litre is offered with either 148bhp or 177bhp. The lesser powered version is capable of 110g/km of CO2 emissions and gets a five-speed manual gearbox, while the remaining are either fitted with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox.

A first for Peugeot is the introduction of the i-Cockpit with Amplify. The system allows you to choose from pre-set modes that change the interior settings, or ambience. This covers the lighting, instrument colours, music settings, seat massage and aromas from an installed fragrance diffuser.

A new generation of technology makes its way into the 3008 with a 3D sat nav featuring images of buildings and land contours. A steering-wheel-mounted button can send the nav screen into the instrument binnacle while TomTom Traffic provides real-time information.

MirrorScreen connects the car’s display to your Smartphone device meaning it can be controlled through the touch screen. There’s also a 10-speaker sound system from French specialists FOCAL.

Available safety equipment now includes automatic emergency braking, lane departure alert, driver awareness alert, high beam assist, speed sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and park assist.

The new 3008 is available to order in the UK from November with deliveries starting in January 2017.
