2017 Hyundai i10’s new look will debut at the Paris Motor Show
Hyundai’s supermini has been in for a nip and tuck. It gets a new look, improved steering, ride, new technology and safety features
Hyundai’s excellent i10 supermini gets a mid-life facelift for 2017, plus improved steering, a better ride, new technology and safety features, and will debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Hyundai will hope that the improvements keep the i10 at the top of the supermini class and ahead of rivals such as the Renault Twingo and Volkswagen Up.
The refreshed five-door hatchback features Hyundai’s new family face with a ‘cascading’ grille and it will be the first Hyundai model featuring the new look to hit the road. In addition, the i10 gets new round LED daytime running lights and a new front bumper design. At the rear, there’s a new look to the rear lights and a tweaked bumper design featuring new black inserts.
On the inside, there’s an extra colour for the trim to choose from, red, to go with the current blue and black.
Hyundai has worked to improve the driving dynamics of the i10 with a revised steering ratio and larger front bump stoppers which improve ride quality.
The i10 retains its current two petrol engine lineup, a 1.0-litre with 65bhp and a 1.2-litre petrol with 86bhp which come fitted to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic.
There’s a new 7.0-inch touchscreen to control the infotainment system, including the sat nav and in-car entertainment. Apple CarPlay and Andriod integration are also available and it comes with a seven-year free subscription to ‘LIVE’ services which provides real-time traffic news, weather and points of interest.
New safety features include a Front Collision Warning System (FCWS) and a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) which are optional on most trims. FCWS uses front camera sensors to alert the driver of a potential collision, while lane departure alerts the driver if unsafe movements are made while the car is driving over 40mph.
The facelifted i10 will debut at next month’s Paris Motor Show with deliveries starting in January 2017.
