Ssangyong Korando gets new boots
Ssangyong's mid-size Korando SUV is now available in LE trim and gets new alloy wheels and more kit
The Ssangyong Korando is now available in LE specification and in turn, gets more standard equipment. The LE sits midway in the Korando range, between the EX and ELX, with the SE and Red Edition bookending the lineup.
On the outside, the Korando LE gets 18in diamond-cut alloy wheels, a piano black front grille, side steps and clear glass indicators.
Inside, the LE has a 7.0in touchscreen which controls the infotainment system, TomTom satellite navigation and a rearview camera. Keeping you entertained is the ability to wirelessly stream music from your smartphone devices, while there are USB, HDMI and auxiliary sockets for those who’d prefer to plug in.
The LE also gets automatic air conditioning, heated front seats, privacy glass, rear parking sensors, rear LED lights and a rear spoiler.
Available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox, the LE is only available in front-wheel drive and is powered by Ssangyong’s 2.2-litre diesel engine, which is available across the rest of the Korando range. To get four-wheel drive, you'll have to go for the cheap SE or dearer EX trim.
Capable of towing up to two tonnes, the engine develops 176bhp and 295lb ft of torque and is Euro 6 compliant. Performance is brisk enough with 0-62mph taking 9.9 seconds. It returns a claimed 53.3mpg on a combined cycle and emits 139g/km of CO2, which gives it a 27% BIK tax banding for company car users.
The Korando LE is available in four exterior paint colours; white, metallic black (£500 cost option), blue and green; and is priced at £17,995 for the manual and £18,995 for the automatic.
In pricing terms, the Korando sits above the Tivoli but below the Tivoli XLV, Rexton and Turismo in the Ssangyong range.
