Ford Focus RS gets Mountune performance upgrades
An aftermarket Mountune performance kit for the Ford Focus RS gives it enough power to outsprint a Porsche 911 Carrera to 62mph
If the current hardcore Ford Focus RS is a little too vanilla for you, there’s now a new Mountune performance upgrade available to eek out even more from the RS’s 2.3-litre petrol Ecoboost engine.
The aptly named 'Ford Performance by Mountune' kit for the Focus RS has been co-developed by Ford Performance diversion and performance car specialist Mountune.
Power has been increased by 25bhp and torque by 30ft/lbs, taking them to new highs of 370bhp and 376ft/lbs, respectively.
Zero to 62mph is now completed in just 4.5seconds, which is faster than a Porsche 911 Carrera and is 0.2 seconds faster than the standard car.
The additional performance is achieved through engine software remapping, a bespoke alloy crossover duct, high-performance air filter and silicone hoses, as well as an upgraded air re-circulation valve.
Importantly, as this is a collaboration between Ford Performance and Mountune, the engine upgrades are covered by Ford’s three-year 60,000 mile warranty (from original car purchase date) and the kit can be installed by any Mountune-appointed Ford dealer, taking around 1.5 hours to complete.
The performance kit is available soon and will cost £899.
